Slayer Creatures When slayer was introduced into Runescape, so too were a new generation of monsters that use mage to power their melee combat. What is the effect of this? Well simple, even though they attack with melee, and can therefore be blocked by the prayer "protect from melee", wearing heavy melee armour will only cause you to be hit harder than when you're wearing effective magic protective armour such as dragonhide.
